you have to have android sdk installed and set up with adb (android debug bridge) up and running, and your phone connected through usb. yes the root stays intact after reboot. as for the end of the video that's it for now. still can't load recovery or custom roms because of the way this root is executed. may be done in the future but for now all we have is root. this is all still new and changes almost everyday so, keep your fingers crossed.

Ok, so sorry to keep running this thread on...

When you say I need it installed, is it in place of windows, or running along with windows as I have with my WAMP server?

Update, watching videos on installing Android....

you have to download then install the android sdk on your windows, linux, or mac machine. follow the installation procedures on the android developer site for the appropriate sdk and android platform for your needs (for the behold 2 its 1.5). did the videos you found help you? i haven't really found any that are all that informative or descriptive. if you find a good one post it up on the forum for others having trouble. if you have more questions don't hesitate to ask and if i know i'll answer and if not i'll do my best to find the answer for you. it may take a while sometimes cause i sure don't know everything about this myself, but we'll figure things out one way or another.

yes this is right. just remember to download the android 1.5 platform for the sdk. this is done by running the sdk setup downloaded with the android sdk. also you may need to install different drivers if your phone is not recognized by adb right off the bat.

I plan on doing the persistent root but I want to wait & see what ROMs come available first. Also if we do root will we still be able to get 2.0 update in the next quarter?

yes you will still get the update if and when it is ever released. the update will kill the root, however, and will also surely close the loop hole that allows this root process to hold. so a whole new way of rooting the phone will most likely need to be found.

galaxy mod is good, but not great. it is fast, but has short comings like no vibration, stock android camera (no badass behold 2 cam anymore), and stock android music player and of course still running 1.5. it is fast as grease lightning though. smokin fast!! try it and if you don't like it you can use odin to return to original behold 2.

if anyone is curious i DID do the galaxy mod to my phone, and i HAVE returned to stock touchwiz. i have to have vibration and the rest of the features that were unfortunately missing. i also missed the beholds notification bar with the quick access to wifi and the like. BTW after returning to stock with odin and reloading all my apps i still have 68mb of free on-board space and phone is running quicker if only slightly.

If I root my Behold II does that stop me from getting OTA updates from T-Mo.  They are scheduled to release a bug fix over the next week.

Yes, you have to ODIN back to default and then re-root if you want to.

BTW - they have a new system image up for the Galaxy ROM and are currently working on cynaogen 1.6 and eclair ROMs.

actually that's wrong. If you root your phone it will not stop updates! Running the galaxy rom on the other hand will, but root is fine although the update will likely kill the root.

I'm actually watching the videos posted here, and I don't understand them. Plus I went to both links posted on the original post and neither of them work. Apparently rooting was not something I was destined to do.

That makes 2 of us....I'm still trying but nobody wants to help a newbie...I have asked for help and they just give me these same videos and I don'tunderstand them abit. If you or anybody have a step by step and for me it would be good if anybody can do a step by step like for dummies
