Pretty much. I mean, this whole string:
Quote
Press Windows+R, type in cmd.
Then do:
cd <Directory where try3 is>
adb push try3 /data/local/try3
adb shell chmod 0755 /data/local/try3
adb shell
/data/local/try3 /system/bin/sh
mount -o rw,remount /dev/st9 /system
cat /system/bin/sh > /system/bin/su
chmod 04755 /system/bin/su
cat /system/bin/playlogo > /system/bin/playlogo_real
/system/bin/chmod 0755 /system/bin/playlogo_real
...sounds like something you'd see Chuthulhu saying. Type Windows + R in my phone? Or on the computer? Do I plug in my phone to my computer as I do this?
Quote
Then do cd <Directory where try3 is>...
Is that anything like doing the hokey pokey? I'm not asking for people to try teaching this to kindergarteners, I'm just wanting someone to speak some kind of English without presupposing we all know how what this stuff means.

I just don't get it. Giffle blaggity

i'm not trying to be a jerk or "elitist", but you guys need to try searching...google is your friend and some of your questions have already been answered on our forum! if you don't understand this stuff then it is beyond your current knowledge base or skill set. read up, do your homework, and then try rooting.

BTW i already had posted these links to get you started:

here you go, these are the correct ones (behold 2 USB drivers) and they must be installed one by one.:

also check out this tutorial for problems setting up adb:

and yes this is all done while connected to a pc!

Remember the excitement when the G1 was first rooted? Now there’s the same for owners of the Sprint Hero and Samsung Behold 2. For the Hero, there’s a thread over at xda-developers with clear instructions on how to Root your Sprint Hero. Not much yet in the way of custom ROMS or other goodies, but you can run applications that require superuser such as wireless tethering.

For Samsung Behold 2 owners, head over to All Droid for your rooting instructions.

I don’t have either of these handsets, so I can test myself, but if anyone successfully roots (or doesn’t), let us know in the comments how it went. And as always with hacking and modifying your phone, do so at your own risk.

[Thanks Ted for the tip on the Behold 2]

do not follow the steps for rooting behold 2 as i've said before many many times it will not work any more! this exploit (try3/asroot) was patched with the first behold 2 update.

if you would like root on your behold 2 there is only one way to get it. you must flash your phone with the custom rooted kernel by BH_MAN on androidforums or flash one of his custom roms with built in root.
