*****UPDATE*****
Everything below will no longer work once you have recieved the ota bug fix. samsung fixed the asroot/try3 exploit.

This info comes to you courtesy of xda-developers, persistant root fix thanks to: kam187 & chaoscentral at android forums:

Requirements:
Android SDK
try3 - found Here: http://rapidshare.com/files/304169950/try3
Alt Link: http://www.4shared.com/file/14856430...e869/try3.html

Press Windows+R, type in cmd.
Then do:
cd <Directory where try3 is>
adb push try3 /data/local/try3
adb shell chmod 0755 /data/local/try3
adb shell
/data/local/try3 /system/bin/sh
mount -o rw,remount /dev/st9 /system
cat /system/bin/sh > /system/bin/su
chmod 04755 /system/bin/su
cat  /system/bin/playlogo >  /system/bin/playlogo_real
/system/bin/chmod 0755 /system/bin/playlogo_real

echo"#!/system/bin/sh
/data/local/try3 /system/bin/sh
mount -o rw,remount /dev/st9 /system
cat /system/bin/sh > /system/bin/su
chmod 04755 /system/bin/su
/system/bin/playlogo_real" > /system/bin/playlogo
Reboot
adb shell
su

Now we have root!

**NOTE**

This is not my "tutorial" this process was first developed and posted by xda-developers then updated with the persistant root fix by kam187 & chaoscentral at android forums. all thanks are do to their hard work. I have not personally verified this on my phone, but others have and it seems that we finally have a viable root. i just wanted to post it up for everyone to get a look. remember any mods you perform are at your own risk. as you all know this phone is brand new and things sometimes will change or not work, just a fair warning to ya.

rooting an android phone allows the user "complete" control of the device. this means, to put it simply, you can access and change OS files, including fonts and icons. you can then also take advantage of custom roms and upload them onto the phone. this is how people have uploaded the sense UI onto the mytouch and G1 for example. there has been a flaw found in the root process for the behold II though so refer to the update in the first post.

roms are custom UI's or programs. to load or run them you must have a root phone.

yes you can download the app/emulator from android market. the catch is that the games are all roms and need to be downloaded individually! the controls are less then impressive and games are mostly in japanese. sorry man i think it sucks.

they have two or three threads (one was just bashing touchwiz), all the behold talk there is mostly focused on achieving a lasting root for the phone. the root tutorial was the most important thing now, though that may change. we try to make sure our site has all the up to date info, so no need to go elsewhere, we'll bring all the news to you.

Excellent! When I get my B2 in a few days I'll have to try to work through that, seems a bit complicated, don't understand how that is done through the phone, is it?

Ok, I get what is being done, a bit...

Is that with the phone attached via USB? And then when you get to the end of the video, then what?

I'll be able to turn off and on the phone with the root? Is it always programmed that way? How to reset if have to take to retail store, recovery?

This is really all new to me...so I don't want to make a mistake doing it.
