Okay, so it seems like the problems keep on piling up...... this kind of sucks.  Cry Well this time its with the SD card. In the notifications bar it says that "Blank External SD card". I tried turning the phone off and back on, but no difference. This has happened to me once before and I had to reformat the card and lost everything. I really don't want to have to reformat the card again, I already have all my information, pictures, music, apps, and everything else on it. Please tell me how to fix this. I'm tired of all the problems.

Take out battery, sim, and sd card. Reinsert all and reboot the phone.

okay so i just got tired of it and reformatted the card again a few days ago, and i finally got all my stuff back on the card, and you know what happened just an hour or two ago.......... IT DID IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! I can not believe this. So I tried your method and it didn't work out. This is just pissing me off now. Has this happened to anyone else? Will the update eventually fix these issues? Please if anyone has any information on this, please let me know. This is driving me crazy.

Some people like me and others have had better luck running a different brand sd card not sandisk. the update is suppose to help but its so new its hard to tell.

not trying to sound mean but there must be something you are doing wrong, but i'm not sure what. i say this because i too have had the phone say the card is blank (one time only though)...it is not! the phone will read your card again. maybe you are getting frustrated and reformating for no reason. just be claim and remove everything...again and WAIT! don't do anything wait at least 30 min. then replace and reboot. if it still doesn't recognize the card put the phone down and continue to wait (with the phone on) and the phone will likely see it again. if you panic and start changing things and deleting things you will just make it harder on yourself. you are not the only one that had this happen, just stop reformating.

BTW IT IS TOTALLY FALSE THAT THE ISSUE HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE BRAND OF MEMORY CARD!!! IT IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE!! SOME PEOPLE CLAIM BETTER LUCK WITH OTHER BRAND OF CARD AND THAT'S GOOD IF IT HELPED THEM, BUT PEOPLE ALSO USED TO THINK THE WORLD WAS FLAT.

if you have better luck with different card that's great! you can certainly always try that, but it is likely pure coincidence if it helps.

Still didn't work and I did everything just as you said....... Is the update out for this phone yet? I don't have a data plan, so I can only use wifi and can't check it all the time. Will that fix this problem?

Do you have to have a data plan to receive the update, because I'm still yet to receive one?

Here's why the update did not actually fix that. The issue that they set out to fix was the consistent sound of the notification tone going off (usually going back to the most annoying of all, the default tone called "Ta Da") because it was remounting the card. Over and over again.

What the actual wording of the fix says is that the "fix" actually delays the amount of time that it sets off the notification tone whenever it dismounts. In other words, it doesn't fix the dismounting problem at all. It just delays the time for the sound. You know, so you don't hear the sound anymore. But if it suddenly can't read the card, it deletes everything on the card. Why couldn't the fix fix that? Because that wouldn't be stupid, and this phone's entire construction seems to be a dedicated study of stupid.

And yes, the fix does make your phone static out frequently, plus I see no actual battery life fix. All I can say is, this phone is a big flaming ball of suck. I sympathize with everyone who has it here and hope we all find some solution to this annoying thing.

I have had SD card issues as well. The 2GB that came with the phone have worked fine, but the 16GB class 4 one I bought and put in has messed up three times. I am trying it again, this time I formatted in in my PC and ran a chkdsk on it and stuff, seeing if that makes any difference. I'll post back after a day or so to see how it has worked.

Worked okay for a few days but then same issue. Some guys on another forum and I think that the issue is related to the USB connection and mounting and unmounting, as that seems to have been the trigger for the corrupted cards on most, if not all, occassions. So the suggestion is, don't connect the phone, even for charging, via the USB cable.  If you need to transfer files to or from your card, shut down the phone, remove the SD card, place it in your computer's card reader, transfer, then be sure to also disconnect or "eject" the card before taking it out of the computer, then put it back in your phone and restart the phone.

I am testing this theory right now and we'll see how it goes.

I have a 16GB TOPRAM Class 4 card I am testing.

i haven't had any issues with the stock card i used, or the aftermarket one i'm using now and i connect via usb everyday! for charging flashing roms adding removing software and yes even charging. a good number people have had bad luck with their cards and that sucks, but its not everybody. you just don't hear from those of us that have no problems because there is nothing to report. the people with the problems are the ones reporting and they report often!

They report often because it happens often. Mine would delete so regularly that I was forced to carry spare SD cards with me containing the info I needed on me so that when it happened I could pop a new one in. I was spending so much time doing things like this, refilling the cards when I got home, and trying to keep new items loaded and synced, that it occurred to me how much time was used correcting this phone's horrible mistakes vs. how much time I actually spent enjoying using the device.

And that's why I'm trading mine in very soon for the new MyTouch Slide. Seriously, this device is just not worth it.
