Author Topic: Thoughts on Touchwiz UI  (Read 6048 times)

Samsung has add its own TouchWiz UI to Android along with it's 3D cube interface. this could be a good or bad thing depending on how you feel about the touchwiz UI. TouchWiz has been changed slightly, including a larger widget box that replaces the stock Androiud App Tray. The dialer has also changed from stock Android and i think it's an improvement. Also the SMS app, photo albums, and most importantly Samsung has replace the Android Camera interface with its own, much better, camera software. It does seem at times that touchwiz can make the phone a little more sluggish than it needs to be and takes a fair amount of processor power. Cube is cool, looking, but slightly gimmicy. It does have a very nice coverflow like feature for viewing photos, youtube vids, and scrolling through your music albums, not to mention quick access to Amazon Mp3 store. All in all it's a very nice looking UI and lets not forget its Android if you don't like the UI you can always root your device and run a basic version of Android.

Yea I like the Touchwiz UI and all, and I really like the cube, (I know most people don't) but I do. The only thing is it only gives me 3 screens. I like at least 6. So I already had Open Home Full bought from my G1, and I used it a few times on my mytouch, but for this phone, open home changes everything. In my opinion it makes it %100 better for me. I can even use custom keyboards now but I like the keyboard that came with the phone, again I know most people didn't but I do. I think maybe this touchwiz will be a lot cooler when we upgrade to 2.0 or 2.1, there's been talk of phones going directly to 2.1, never the less I know we are skipping 1.6 and going straight to at least 2.0. If there was a way to make more screens with the touchwiz I'd keep it on but 3 just don't cut it for me. But after 2 weeks or so I love the phone. It's great. I'm one of those people though that if in 6 months T mobile puts out a REALLY cool phone I'll buy it, lol, I am such  phone junkie. I had the G1 on the release date and the Mytouch on it's release date and this phone shortly after it came out. LOL. What I really like is there's a lot to learn on this phone, it's not just another kinda g1 or hero version, lots of new stuff to learn and play with.
Later,
Kn0t.
